Sun Garden aims to create spaces for young folks to grow through art while learning life-long skills. Our approach to education disrupts traditional models by centering the importance of community as both teachers and learners.
Roots & Purpose
Sun Garden was created in response to the overwhelming burnout facing educators, youth workers, and nonprofit staff, alongside the ongoing cuts to arts and educational funding. Young people are losing access to creative, culturally grounded learning, while the adults supporting them are stretched thinner than ever.
We exist to offer another way.
Sun Garden is a cooperative space where educators and youth advocates lead, manage, and run the programs. We aim to offer an alternative to the traditional nonprofit model, one that centers our mission, prioritizes the people we serve, and fosters mutual care within our community.
